Ryan K. Wilson
Ryan has litigated a wide variety of issues in state and federal court, particularly in complex commercial matters. Ryan began his legal career at a large, defense-oriented law firm before joining Reagan to develop a more plaintiff-side focused practice. Ryan has received recognition as a Super Lawyers - Rising Star and as a Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch for commercial litigation, class actions, and oil & gas law.
Ryan is a native of Byng, Oklahoma, and he received his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Yale University. Ryan returned to his home state for law school, obtaining his Juris Doctor from the University of Oklahoma College of Law, where he was inducted into the Order of the Coif, the Order of Barristers, and the National Order of Scribes. While in law school, Ryan was named National Best Advocate in the ABA National Appellate Advocacy Competition.
Ryan enjoys hunting, fishing, and obsessing over Thunder basketball and Sooner football.
Representative Experience
Served as co-lead class counsel in over twenty-five oil-and-gas class actions, recovering over $250 million for mineral owners.
Obtained favorable legal ruling, in a case of first impression, on the applicable limitations period for a statutory claim. Rice v. Burlington Res. Oil & Gas Co. LP, 582 F. Supp. 3d 871 (N.D. Okla. 2022).
Obtained summary judgment for $1.8 million on indemnity claim. Chesapeake Operating, LLC v. C.C. Forbes, LLC, 660 F. Supp. 3d 1140 (W.D. Okla. 2023).
Co-authored Tenth Circuit brief on enforceability of failed-bank instruments obtained from the FDIC, resulting in reversal of the trial court and entry of $5 million judgment for the client. Cadlerock III, LLC v. Wheeler, 779 F. App’x 519 (10th Cir. 2019).
Successfully negotiated multi-million dollar settlement for corporate client in professional negligence matter.
Recovered over $15 million for mineral owners in individual royalty underpayment disputes under Oklahoma law.
Represented clients in False Claims Act investigations by the United States Department of Justice.
